Returns & refunds

Musical is digital, so there’s nothing to post back. Here’s exactly how refunds work for each app.

The short version

  • Musical for Mac is free — there’s nothing to buy, so nothing to refund.
  • The iPhone, iPad and Apple TV apps are a one-time purchase on the App Store. Apple handles every payment and every refund.
  • We don’t sell physical products, so there’s nothing to ship back and no return fees.
  • Having trouble? Tell us first — we’d love the chance to fix it.

What we sell

ProductPriceRefunds
Musical for MacFreeNothing to refund. You can delete it at any time.
Musical for iPhone, iPad & Apple TV$4.99, once (shown in your local currency)Requested from Apple — see the steps below.

There are no subscriptions, so there’s nothing to cancel and nothing that renews.

Coffees are optional support, not a purchase of a product. They go through Buy Me a Coffee, so questions about a payment are best sent to them.

How to ask Apple for a refund

The iPhone, iPad and Apple TV apps are bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple takes the payment, so we can’t refund or reverse it ourselves — only Apple can. Here’s how to ask:

  1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account you bought Musical with.
  2. Choose “I’d like to…”, then “Request a refund”.
  3. Pick a reason, select Musical, and submit your request.

Apple reviews each request under its own terms and lets you know its decision by email.

Your rights

Nothing on this page limits your legal rights as a consumer. Depending on where you live, these may include rights to cancel a digital purchase or to a remedy if something is faulty or not as described. Apple applies these when you ask it for a refund, and you’re always welcome to contact us too.

Something not working?

Before you ask for a refund, a few quick things often help:

  • Update Musical, and your Mac, iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, to the latest version.
  • If your iPhone or Apple TV can’t find your library, make sure your Mac is awake, with Musical open and sharing its library.
  • Check the FAQ for an answer.

Still stuck? Tell us on the contact page, or report it on the feedback board so it can be fixed for everyone.

Ripping, piracy and paying artists

Musical is made by people who love music and the community around it. We don’t condone piracy, and Musical isn’t a way to get music you haven’t paid for.

The law on copying CDs — including ripping a disc you own for your own personal use — is different from country to country, and in some countries it isn’t allowed. It’s up to you to know and follow the laws where you live, and to only use Musical with music you have the right to use. Nothing on this site is legal advice.

Please make sure the people behind the music are paid what they deserve: buy the albums you love, see artists live, and back the musicians and labels you care about. That’s why Musical helps you preview, discover and keep track of albums to buy.
